7 May, Kuwait reports two deaths, 278 new coronavirus cases Thursday

May 7, KUWAIT, (KUNA) — The Kuwaiti Ministry of Health reported, Thursday, 278 new coronavirus (COVID-19) infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the tally to 6,567.

Deaths reached 44 with 2 new cases.

During his daily briefing, Health Ministry spokesperson Dr. Abdullah Al-Sanad added that 91 patients were in intensive care with 39 critical cases.
Those currently receiving treatment at hospitals reached 4,142 patients, said the spokesperson.
Earlier, Health Minister Dr. Basel Al-Sabah announced the recovery of 162 patients as the total is brought to 2,381 recoveries.

MoH 162 coronavirus recoveries in Kuwait, total at 2,381

KUWAIT, May 7 (KUNA) — Kuwait’s Health Minister Dr. Basel Al-Sabah announced, on Thursday, the recovery of 162 people from the coronavirus (COVID-19), bringing the tally to 2,381.
In remarks to KUNA, the minister said analyses and medical examinations and tests proved that these cases were cured of the coronavirus.
The recovered will be transferred to the hospital recuperation ward, pending their discharge within the next few days, he said.

May 7 (KUNA) – The Philippines announced, Thursday, 27 deaths and 339 infections due to the coronavirus (COVID-19), putting the deaths and infections tally at 685 and 10,343 respectively.
The number of those recovering from the virus reached 1,618 with the addition of 112 individuals.
The coronavirus pandemic had affected the Philippines economy, resulting in a recession, the first in 22 years.
To counter the economic effect of the disease, legislators are looking into pumping between USD 9.6 to 19.8 billion into the economy.

Britain registers 539 new coronavirus deaths

LONDON, May 7 (KUNA) — British Department of Health said Thursday coronavirus deaths surged to 30,615 after it registered 539 deaths in the past 24 hours.
It added in a statement 5,614 people tested positive for the virus since yesterday to increase infections to 206,715.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson said last Thursday Britain passed the peak of the virus, and that his government would soon publish a plan to lift the restrictions nationwide.

Covid-19 kills 13, sickens 393 in Egypt

CAIRO, May 7 (KUNA) – The novel coronavirus (Covid-19) has killed 13 more people in Egypt, bringing the country’s death toll to 482, said the Ministry of Health on Thursday.
The deadly virus has also infected 393 more people in Egypt, raising the total number of infections to 7,981, the ministry’s spokesman Khaled Mujahed in a press statement.
Out of the total figure, 1,887 patients have recovered from the respiratory disease, the spokesman added.
Earlier in the day, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli his country has decided to extend anti-coronavirus measures until the end of the holy month of Ramadan.

Saudi Arabia confirms 10 virus deaths, 1,793 cases

RIYADH, May 7 (KUNA) — Saudi Arabia on Thursday reported 10 fatalities due to the novel coronavirus (Covid-19), taking the kingdom’s death toll to 219 so far.
The number of infections with the highly contagious respiratory disease shot up by 1,793 to 33,731 since the outbreak of the deadly bug in the kingdom, the Saudi Health Ministry’s Spokesman Mohammad Al-Abdulali said in his daily news briefing Thursday.
In addition, a total 1,015 patients have been cured of the Covid-19, raising the count of recoveries to 7,798, while 145 others are still languishing in intensive care units, the spokesman added.
