ISLAMABAD, July 1 – During the last 24 hours, 4,133 new coronavirus cases have surfaced in Pakistan, taking the country’s total tally to 213,470, according to Pakistan’s National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).
These include 76,262 in Punjab, 84,640 in Sindh, 26,598 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 10,476 in Balochistan, 12,912 in Islamabad, 1,489 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 1,093 in Kashmir, it said in a press statement.
Punjab has recorded the highest number of cases in the past 24 hours with 761 new cases and 35 casualties, it added. The death toll from the virus stands at 4,395 with 91 deaths reported over the last 24.

The number of total recovered patients of COVID-19 in Pakistan crossed 100,000 on Wednesday taking the country’s recovery rate from the virus to 47.2 percent, said health authorities, according to the statement
PAK’s southern Sindh province was on the top in recoveries with total 46,824 recovered patients followed by eastern Punjab province where 27,488 patients have so far recovered from the virus.

Total recovered patients in northern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is 13,067, 4,484 in southwestern Balochistan province, 7,261 in federal capital Islamabad, 1,128 in Gilgit-Baltistan region, 550 in Pakistan administered Kashmir, it added.
Meanwhile, Afghan Ministry of Public Health reported 271 new positive cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The total known cases across Afghanistan are now 31,238 while the total deaths are 733, said the ministry in a press release.
Around 13,934 people have so far recovered from the disease. In the last 24 hours, the ministry reported 12 new deaths and 1,330 recoveries, it said. The rise in the number of cases is alarming as the total tests conducted in the country so far are just 71,549. ( kuna )
